Tests!!

We have a few tests coming up that I wanted to let you know about. Our first test is in Math. We will have our UNIT 2 Test next Tuesday, October 15. The unit has been all about data and reading line plot graphs. We have been working on a study guide this week that includes vocabulary and problems to practice. Please start studying with your kids. Our second test is for Social Studies. This test will be on Thursday, October 17. We are working on our study guide in class this week. The test comes directly from the study guide and vocabulary. Students should start studying for this test soon. Both Math and Social Studies study guides should be in your child's homework folder and will get turned in the day of the test. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!!

What's Happening in Music Class

What’s Happening in Music Class!
September Letter to Parents-
In the month of September, we got a chance to learn lots about music, and play with all kinds of
instruments along the way! First, we got to learn the difference between beat and rhythm and
makeup rhythms of our own! The students were able to choose their own instruments and
perform their rhythms for the class. We then learned about musical dynamics, such as “piano”,
“forte”, and other terms like “crescendo” and “decrescendo.” We learned these terms by
playing a “Simon Says” type of game and moving around the classroom to the specific dynamic
played. Younger students were taught notes; quarter note, eighth note, double eighth note,
and quarter rests. Older kids were taught the notes I mentioned, and half notes, whole notes
and how to write these notes on a musical staff!
It has been so fun to see these students perform and get the chance to play some instruments
for the first time!
For the upcoming months leading to December, students will be learning singing techniques
and preparing for the very exciting Carols, Cookies, and Coco performance.
