This year TLCS is reaching out to help some of the families who have recently lost everything in the Campfires. The beautiful Nairz family needs our help. Each grade is supporting a family for the Christmas season. • MAKE-UP PICTURES on Tuesday, October 2nd. If you want your child to have a make-up photo taken, please let me know by responding to this email. She will be offering more sibling pics after school on Tuesday as well - please respond to sign up if you are interested.  PHOTOS HERE Password = TL-18
• OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT is this Friday, October 5th. Bring your beach chair and blanket and join us starting at 6pm for dinner (Zameen's food truck and Hot Dogs) and movie and popcorn at 7pm.

Dear Family,

What an exciting, musical school year that is in store for your Fourth Grader! This year your child will continue to learn more about music and will develop skills and concepts to form the foundation for a lifetime of musical enjoyment. In the first quarter, your child will be focusing on the concepts of rhythm, beat, and melody through our main idea - Songs You Need to Know! We will be learning a variety of Classic Songs, Patriotic Songs and Worship Songs that every child needs to know. As we learn new concepts and new songs we will be asking the question Why Music? My hope is that your child will be able to answer this question as we discover the gift of music that God created for us to enjoy! I am here to help you help your child explore more about music. Thank you for your assistance this school year, whether it be at home, at school or both. I encourage you to ask your child what songs he or she is learning, and see if they can teach you something! First Week & Other Updates!

Hi Families!

Wow! What a great first week, we are off to a good start! I have really been enjoying getting to know your kids. They are a great group and we are going to have an AWESOME year! A few things to remember...

• Back to School Night is this next Thursday evening, August 30th. We have 2 Elementary sessions, 6:30-7:00 and 7:15-7:45. This evening is for adults only. I will discuss homework, field trips, class behavior and much more. I hope to see all of your there. If you are unable to attend, that is ok. I will send home a packet so you don't miss any information.
• Homework will start on Monday, August 27- You can expect 20 minutes of reading every night, a math worksheet and a spelling activity. These assignments are due each day Tuesday-Friday. You can always check our classroom blog for homework assignments. I post homework for the week, each Monday. I will talk more in-depth about homework at Back To School Night.
• Weekly Tests will start Friday, August 31. Each Friday your child will have a spelling test, memory verse test, and selection test. The selection test is a comprehension test that comes from our weekly textbook story. It is an open book test.
• NO SCHOOL- Monday, September 3- Labor Day😊 Please plan ahead.

This Friday, May 18th is the Carnival!!! You do not want to miss this fun community event. There will be bounce houses, games, food and lots of fun! Sacramento Field Trip Details

Hi Families! Our Sacramento field trip is less than a week away!! Here are the things you need to know so that you and your child are prepared.

• Your child needs to ARRIVE on campus at 6:45 am. If you late, there is a chance we will leave without you.
• The drive to Sacramento is about 3 hrs. There will be NO snacking/food on the bus. PLEASE feed your child a big, healthy breakfast.
• We have been told that the bathroom on the bus is for EMERGENCIES ONLY. Please remind your child to NOT over hydrate before coming to school. EVERYONE will be using the restroom before we get on the bus to leave.
• Your child needs to bring a bag lunch. We will not be purchasing lunch. Please send them with a lunch, a snack for when we arrive, something to drink and an ice pack if needed.
• Your child will be in a group for the day with 1 or 2 chaperones.
• Do not send your child with electronics
• We will be stopping for dinner on the way home at In-N-Out. Your child DOES NOT need to bring money for dinner. The amount for dinner has been included in the field trip price.
• If you send your child with spending money they are responsible for it. Chaperones will not be responsible for any belongings that your child brings.

4th Grade Sacramento Field Trip Agenda - Tuesday, April 24th

6:45 am – gather at the school having eaten a nutritious breakfast:)

7:00 – depart school

11:00 – 12:30 – train ride and Railroad Museum tour

12:30 – sack lunches

12:30 – 1:15 - self guided tour of Old Town Sacramento

2:00 – 3:00 – Capitol building tour

3:15 – Sutter’s Fort

4:00 – Board bus and depart Sacramento

5:00-6:00 – dinner at In-N-Out San Ramon (included in $80 fee)

8:00 – arrive at Twin Lakes

Please prepare your student as follows:

• Dress in layers for all types of weather
• Wear comfortable walking shoes
• Bring water bottles, large sack lunch and camera (optional)
• Apply and bring sunscreen
• Optional:  modest amount of spending money (no more than $20)
• Optional:  bring a small backpack to put any belongings in (sweatshirt, water bottle, lunch, $, etc.)

Due to Terra Nova Testing this week I am NOT assigning homework or our regular tests. I do ask that students continue to read 20 minutes each night towards their AR goal.

Terra Nova Testing

We start Terra Nova Testing on Monday morning. Please make sure your children are well rested, they have had a nutritious breakfast and they are on time for school ALL week long. Our testing starts at the beginning of our day. Please try and reassure your kids that they do not need to be nervous about testing. This test does not count towards their grades at all. We just want them to do their best. Let's set them up for success! Thanks for your support!!
